Your support, partnership, and active involvement in your child’s educational journey are a testament to our shared desire for success for each district student. We look forward to continuing to work with you in new ways to ensure that continued success. This is a day of fun for kids ten and under with crafts, games and even a visit from the North Pole! To share in the holiday cheer, please bring a non-perishable item for admittance. The KEPTO is always looking for volunteers to help at our events! We are most in need of volunteers for our upcoming Winter Workshop! Without enough volunteers, we will not be able to run this event. KES parents, grandparents, families, & friends are all welcome to help.

Holiday Recess

With plenty of comfortable seating, and optional stuffed animals for support, students settled in around a faux campfire in the library’s lab for the readings. The tradition continued for third-grade students at Matthew Paterson Elementary School this year with the annual Thanksgiving Celebration. For more than 45 years, third-grade students and teachers have been gathering for a fun-filled day of seasonal activities, academic lessons, crafts, food and more – and this year was no different.

Elementary education is a wonderful experience for all members of the school community. It should effectively serve as a link between home and school while meeting the needs of our emerging children. Please be encouraged to become an active KES parent and to share fully in this educational experience with your child and school staff.

If our school is selected to be part of the survey, we will be reporting to the New York State Department of Health information about our students’ weight status groups. No names and no information about individual students are sent. However, you may choose to have your child’s information excluded from this survey report.

While the outcome is not what we wanted, the Homecoming celebration and fun will continue with the planned bonfire and athletic recognitions. For the last several months, our district has been fortunate to have Dr. Foster serving as our interim Assistant Superintendent for Instruction while the position remained vacant. Throughout November, for Native American Heritage Month, several elementary and middle school classes had the opportunity to learn more about the traditions and way of life of the native people who inhabited, and still live in, our local areas. Read more and see photos from Native American Heritage Month lessons. We are excited for Michael to join the district’s administrative team and we look forward to working with him at Kent Elementary School. We also thank our interim principal, Anthony DiCarlo, for his dedicated guidance in the role over the last several weeks.
